Saadi et al conducted a literature review of epidemiological and economic models on prioritization of population groups to reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission, mortality, and morbidity. 43 papers were analyzed, and it was found that vaccination of seniors first was ideal for countries trying to reduce mortality, unless high risk groups or individuals that have a large network could be identified. Vaccination of young people was ideal for countries trying to minimize number of cases. Researchers suggest that seniors and youth should be prioritized based on the aim of the country, but that more research in low- and middle-income settings is necessary.
